Not all of your content in Smartling needs to be treated the same. For example, legal content may need several review steps to ensure its accuracy, and a local team may want to have an additional review step for their language. Machine translation may be the best option for low-touch content.

In the past, this meant creating a specific workflow for each type of content. Multiple workflows can become difficult to manage/track, and workflow selection adds an extra step to authorizing a job.

Smartling’s Dynamic Workflows offer a solution to this challenge. With a single workflow, we can treat different content types and languages entirely differently. Read on to find out how!

Consolidate Your Workflows

Dynamic workflows enable you to combine all of the different workflow types into one, easy-to-manage workflow.

Dynamic Workflows

Each ‘branch’ above represents a distinct path that a piece of content can take through this workflow. As soon as the content hits the Decision Branch, it is routed to one of the possible branches based on specific criteria.

It is also possible to branch the workflow after the translation step:

Dynamic Workflow

This saves time and effort. Before, three different content types required three different jobs and workflows each. Now, the same result is achievable with one job and one workflow.

Automated Workflows to Your Advantage

Although content is routed at the string level, Dynamic Workflows offer a range of criteria to determine where the string ends up. These include File name, Key, Variant, String/Job word count, Tags, and whether the string was edited in the previous step.

Whether your translated content needs an additional review step or if you’re trying to save money by having some strings skip a step, Dynamic Workflows can help!
